EOS secures €71.4 million order from European NATO member for 100kW laser drone defence system

Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited has announced it has secured a significant order for its newly developed 100-kilowatt high-power laser weapon system designed for counter-drone warfare. The order represents the world’s first export of a laser defence system in the 100-kilowatt class.

The contract, valued at €71.4 million (approximately A$125 million), has been placed by a European NATO Member State. It includes the supply of the laser system, along with spare parts, training, and documentation, with delivery scheduled between 2025 and 2028.

EOS developed the laser capability to meet the growing strategic need for cost-effective defence against drone swarm attacks. The new system builds on the company’s existing expertise in kinetic counter-drone technology and expands its range of capabilities significantly.

The company conducted three years of field testing and multiple firing trials in close collaboration with customers to ensure the system’s performance and reliability. The laser weapon integrates advanced algorithms, radar, threat detection, target acquisition, and beam locking systems.

EOS stated the order follows “extensive and ongoing marketing, sales and customer demonstration activity” conducted by the company. The system will be manufactured and delivered by EOS at its facility in Singapore.

This announcement was authorised for release to the ASX by the Board of Directors of Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited.
