Cerulean Sonar is an innovative developer of advanced imaging and positioning solutions for ROVs (remotely operated vehicles), AUVs (autonomous underwater vehicles) and USVs (uncrewed surface vessels).
With a focus on reliability and cost-effectiveness, the company is committed to making ocean exploration more accessible and affordable, and has partnered with a range of leading ROV manufacturers and systems integrators.
Underwater Imaging Systems
The Omniscan family provides a range of forward-looking and side-scan sonar options for ROVs and USVs. Utilizing a single narrow and tall sonar beam and working in conjunction with the tightly-integrated Cerulean SonarView software, these robust underwater systems provide real-time high-performance imaging capabilities.
With forward-looking sonars, ROV pilots can precisely control their scans by rotating their vehicle, instantly focusing on specific areas of interest or enhancing situational awareness with a full 360-degree scan. Omniscan side-scan sonars offer superior detail to many multibeam sonars currently on the market, at a much higher level of cost-effectiveness.
The Omniscan 3D Upgrade Kit enables you to transform your regular Omniscan imaging sonar into a full 3D system, rendering the image with extremely high levels of accuracy and simultaneously capturing a full point cloud of the seabed as well as targets within the water column.
The ROV Locator (ROVL) family provides a range of cost-effective USBL positioning capabilities at depths of down to 300 meters. Three different variants are available:
Mk II – utilizes separate GNSS devices on topside receiver and ROV transmitter to synchronize the clocks on each unit
Mk III– uses duplex acoustic communication with a transceiver on the topside and a transponder on the ROV, requiring no clock synchronization
Mk V – utilizes a common Ethernet connection for accurate and drift-free synchronization that is independent of the speed of sound
Omnitrack USBL
Cerulean’s flagship Omnitrack subsea positioning system features a ring buoy that combines an ROV Locator USBL with dual GNSS receivers to deliver robust high-accuracy positioning of underwater targets. Wired and wireless options are available for the surface module.
Tracker 650 DVL
The Tracker 650 Doppler Velocity Log upgrades Omnitrack and ROVL subsea positioning systems by delivering high-update rate velocity information for smooth motion tracking and accurate position holding.

Bathymetry Solutions
Surveyor 240 MBES
The Surveyor 240 is a compact and cost-effective 240 kHz multibeam echosounder that is ideal for integration into smaller USV platforms. It utilizes a sophisticated angle-of-arrival estimation algorithm to achieve higher accuracy than conventional beam-forming techniques, resolving to less than a degree.
Surveyor 240 is highly suited to very shallow-water survey operations and can also undertake surveys at depths of over 50 meters.
Sounder S500 SBES
The Sounder S500 single-beam echosounder has been designed for integration into small ROVs, AUVs and ASVs, featuring separate transducer and control electronics for minimal external profile and enhanced installation flexibility.
The system utilizes CHIRP technology to provide excellent range resolution, and can measure distances of over 100 meters.
The Manifold 5L is a subsea Ethernet network hub that allows you to connect up to five devices, providing streamlined power and communications and reducing penetrations in main electronics enclosures. Ideal for ROV platforms, it provides an optional tether interface for long-distance connectivity.
Network Hub
Cerulean’s Network Hub enables ROV operators to unify their topside networks, reducing cabling requirements and eliminating the need for multiple adapters. The compact device provides multiple physical interfaces and can be powered directly from a laptop USB-C port, a battery bank, or an external 2.1 mm DC barrel input.
GPS/GNSS Module
Rated to 300 meters, Cerulean’s GPS/GNSS module features a low-profile non-snagging design and an integrated patch antenna. and supports tracking of two GNSS constellations simultaneously (either GPS + GLONASS or GPS + BeiDou).
